The polyhedral calibration plate (also known as a 3D stereo calibration plate) is a high-precision calibration tool used in machine vision, photogrammetry, and 3D reconstruction. Its core function is to provide spatial depth information calibration for visual systems, enabling the construction of accurate 3D geometric models and supporting high-precision measurement and reconstruction. It is primarily used for system calibration and performance evaluation in machine vision, 3D scanning, and optical measurement. Building on traditional passive calibration boards, it adds an active illumination function to deliver more stable, controllable, and suitable calibration conditions for complex environments.

The calibration board adopts a three-dimensional structural design (such as stepped or multi-plane combinations) and arranges high-precision feature point arrays across different spatial depth planes, providing the visual system with known three-dimensional physical coordinate information. After the camera captures images of the multi-view stereo calibration board, the algorithm extracts the three-dimensional spatial coordinates of the feature points on each plane, establishes an accurate mapping relationship between the image pixel coordinate system and the world three-dimensional coordinate system, and solves for the internal and external parameters and spatial pose relationships of the multi-camera system — completing the calibration and spatial alignment of the 3D vision system.
The active light source design effectively solves the difficulty of feature extraction that traditional 3D calibration boards face under complex lighting conditions, significantly improving calibration repeatability and accuracy.
