Vehicle Onboard Camera Calibration Board

 

The calibration board for automotive on-board cameras is the core reference carrier for ADAS and autonomous driving vision systems. It is used to precisely calibrate the intrinsic, extrinsic, and distortion parameters of the camera, ensuring the accuracy of functions such as lane recognition and panoramic stitching.

1. Conventional pattern types
(1) Chessboard calibration board: The most mainstream type, with mature corner detection algorithms, unambiguous grid feature recognition, and adaptability to most in-vehicle monocular and surround-view camera calibration scenarios.
(2) Circular hole/reflective marker calibration board: Supports joint calibration of LiDAR and camera, facilitating synchronous extraction of multi-sensor features.
(3) AprilTag/Aruco calibration board: Customizable design, supports fast recognition from multiple perspectives, and adapts to dynamic calibration scenarios.
(4) Surround View Special Calibration Kit: Equipped with multiple calibration plates and brackets, it meets the stitching and calibration needs for 360° panoramic imaging of the entire vehicle.
2. Main specifications and parameters
(1) Accuracy requirements: In ADAS functional scenarios, the grid spacing error needs to be controlled at the micrometer level, with the substrate flatness deviation not exceeding 2μm, to avoid introducing systematic errors such as positioning and dimensional measurement errors.
(2) Material and Craftsmanship: Preferably choose alumina substrate, acrylic, or aluminum-plastic panel materials, with a matte anti-glare coating on the surface to avoid the problems of ordinary printing paper such as deformation due to moisture and edge bleeding.
(3) Parameter adaptation: The commonly used grid size for onboard cameras is 25-35mm, with a recommendation of 30mm. The number of grids often adopts an asymmetric design of 9x6 or 10x7 to avoid ambiguous orientation during algorithm recognition.
(4) Environmental adaptability: It needs to adapt to complex lighting scenarios calibrated for vehicles, with no obvious reflection under strong light and less deformation in high and low temperature environments.
