The Large-Sized Multi-Sensor Fusion Radar Calibration Board

 

The large-sized multi-sensor fusion radar calibration board is an integrated calibration benchmark developed for fields such as autonomous driving and robotics. It can simultaneously adapt to joint calibration of multiple types of sensors such as laser radar, cameras, and millimeter wave radar, and is the core hardware for achieving unified spatial coordinates of multiple sensors.
1. Core design features
(1) Large size and high precision: The mainstream products have a single block size of up to 3m × 5m, which can be spliced to achieve a super large field of view coverage of over 10m. The processing accuracy is controlled within ± 8-30 μ m, and the thermal expansion coefficient is as low as 2-5 × 10 ⁻⁶/℃, ensuring dimensional stability in complex environments.
(2) Multi modal compatible design: The surface adopts a matte low reflective coating with an optical contrast ratio of ≥ 100:1. It is also equipped with a checkerboard/dot composite array, radar reflector, and customizable AprilTag encoding pattern, which meets the needs of visual feature extraction and LiDAR point cloud recognition. Some products also support customized multi gradient reflectivity.
(3) Adaptive multi-sensor synchronous calibration: It can provide a geometric reference for distortion correction for cameras, a reference surface for point cloud plane fitting for lidar, and a strong reflective target at a specified position for millimeter wave radar. External parameter alignment of multiple types of sensors can be completed in one deployment.
2. Core application value
It solves the pain points of traditional small-sized calibration boards being unable to cover large fields of view and low efficiency of multi-sensor step-by-step calibration. It can compress the single vehicle calibration time of multi-sensor joint calibration to less than 5 minutes, ensuring that the lateral error under 100 meter distance measurement is controlled at the centimeter level, greatly improving the fusion accuracy and reliability of the autonomous driving perception system.
